Getting from Bangkok to Siem Reap & Angkor Wat

Your best bet and cheapest way to travel from Bangkok to Siem Reap is to make a stop in Phnom Phen. Air Asia has a direct flight and the single fares are about US$50. From Phnom Phen you can choose to travel by land (bus) or water (boat). Buses are cheaper, though.
Never buy a bus ticket from Bangkok to Siem Reap as there is no such service. Everything is a scam and you’ll be dropped at the Cambodian border, with the only option to take the scammers taxi to Siem Reap.
Flights from Bangkok (airport code: BKK) to Siem Reap
Siem Reap is served by an international airport (REP) , which happens to be the second largest in Cambodia. Flights from Bangkok are operated only by Bangkok Airways, which means you’ll be paying slightly more for the monopoly. A single adult ticket costs US$221, while the return ticket is US$344. The flight time is 1h 10 min each way.

Flights and bus or boat from Bangkok to Siem Reap
There is a cheaper way to get to Sieam Reap from Bangkok, but it includes both flying and traveling by bus or boat. Air Asia operates a daily flight from Bangkok to Phnom Phen. Single adult fares start at 1,590.00 THB (which is about US$53).
From Phnom Phen you need to take the bus (6 h) or boat up the Tonle Sap River to get to Siem Reap. Direct buses from Phnom Phen cost US$10 per person, one way. The boat ticket is US$35 and the ride takes 6 hours.
Driving from Bangkok to Siem Reap
Renting a car in Thailand can be a pleasant experience , as soon as you get out of the city. The roads in Thailand are well maintained but that’s not the case of roads in Cambodia. Do ask the rental company if you are allowed to take the car over the border.
